06/09/08 - Leicester Westleigh 4 v 4 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Nin Manku X2, Rav Manku, Avnit C

Ramgarhia recorded a positive result against Leicester Westleigh on the weekend in their first preseason friendly. Ramgarhia started positively with a number of good attacking moves and looked the most likely to score and did when Nin Manku played the ball towards opposition’s keeper and Avnit C was on hand to deflect the ball up and over the keeper into the goal. Westliegh then equalised after they won a penalty corner and inadvertently scored with a helping hand from the away team. Ramgarhia didn’t let there heads drop but instead picked up from this and with a string of impressive passing displays we managed to create a number of good opportunities and quickly took the lead thru Rav Manku as he swept the ball past the advancing keeper after good work from Kamal Chohan and Nin Manku. Westleigh equalised just before the break and the first half ended 2-2.

The second half started badly for Ramgarhia with Westliegh putting on the pressure and some fine display of defending we managed to hang on until a mistake gifted the Westleigh striker an opportunity to take the lead for his team. With time against Ramgarhia, we had to pick up a gear and went on the attack and after a number of close chances it was Nin Manku who scored after combining nicely with Kamal Chohan, Nin managed to round then keeper and slot the ball into the open goal. The game looked pretty even from then with either team creating the same amount of chances but it was Westleigh who scored their 4th of the game after another defensive mistake. But Ramgarhia in the dire minutes of the half equalised with Nin Manku scoring his second of the game, intercepting a short ball in the home teams defence and managed to round the keeper, after an initial great save, Nin was on hand to pounce and score the equaliser and the game ended 4-4

13/09/08 - Ashbourne 1 v 3 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Raj Manku, Rav Manku, Nin Manku

Ramgarhia played exceptionally well against an average Ashbourne team and comfortably won 3-1 but should have won by more. The game started relatively well for Ramgarhia creating a number of attacks and putting pressure on the Ashbourne defence... Even though Ramgarhia had a number of guilt edge chances we failed to score, but it wasn’t long before we did score, Raj Manku converting a trade mark penalty corner after good work from Navdeep Singh who created the short corner opportunity. Rav manku was to get Ramgarhia’s second after good pressure and closing down from Ramgarhia defence who incepted and set up a counter for Nin Manku to take wide and put in a good cross for Rav Manku to deflect past the keeper. Nin Manku got the third and final goal for Ramgarhia after continued pressing from the midfield broke down an Ashbourne pass and went on a counter for Nin Manku to round the keeper and slot into the open goal. At this stage we were cruising and set the tempo from the start. Although Ramgarhia had most of the possession and had a number of good shots saved by the home side’s goal keeper and we failed to improve on our three goals, this allowed Ashbourne to get a goal after some poor defending from the Ramgarhia defence as tiredness became evident towards the latter period of the game.

20/09/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 3 v 2 Sikh Union Coventry

Goal scorers: Kyle Faulkner, Nin Manku, Balraj Johal

Ramgarhia managed to scrape a 3-2 victory over Sikh Union Coventry at the weekend. The game started in Coventry's favour with Ramgarhia looking shaky and failed to retain possession and after an early penalty corner hitting the post, Ramgarhia looked set for a torrid afternoon. It was Coventry to have had the early opportunities and broke the deadlock with a reverse hit that went past the keeper and into the back of the net. The early goal woke Ramgarhia and switched up a gear and began to play hockey and created a number of chances but failed to score, but mid way through the first half Ramgarhia managed to score through Kyle Faulkner who connected well with Navdeep Singh and to expose the right hand side of the pitch and a good ball saw Kyle sitting in acres of space inside the D and he coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net. Ramgarhia pressed even more but the first half ended 1-1.
The second half started better for Ramgarhia and they managed to get a number of short corners and became some good practice for the season ahead. Nin Manku put away Ramgarhia's second goal via a direct hit past the keeper. Shortly after, Balraj Johal put away Ramgarhia's last of the game through yet another penalty corner, combined well with Nin to create an opening for Balraj to coolly slot the ball past the keeper. Even though Ramgarhia should have managed to get a couple more goals it wasn't to be and Coventry managed to get one back and Ramgarhia held on for the win and the game ended 3-2.
Rakesh Rao getting the man of the match votes for his demanding display in midfield which he helped overcome a torrid start and settles the ship for the remainder of the game.

27/09/08 - Kettering 0 v 4 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Rav Manku, Nin Manku, Kamal Chauhan, Kyle Faulkner

Ramgarhia won 4-0 in their final preseason friendly against kettering. The game started lively for Ramgarhia and dominated possession and after a number of successful passes and attacking moves we managed to put the first goal of the game on the board after good work form the defence creating a counter attack and the midfield linked well with the forwards and Kyle Faulkner played a delightful ball across the face of the goal which saw Rav Manku coolly convert it into a goal. Ramgarhia retained most of the possesion in the first half and although a number of open chances their second goal came towards the end of the first half when a short corner was won, a cleaver routine saw Nin Manku fire the ball past the fallen keeper into the goal, the first half ending 2-0 and Ramgarhia looked comfortable.

The second half saw kettering alot more attacking and managed to create a fair few chances but Ramgarhia managed to hold on and were awarded a penalty flick after Navdeep Singh was fouled by the keeper inside the Dee and the flick was converted by Kamal Chauhan on the second time of asking. Ramgarhia playing the ball delightfully around the pitch creating chances and trying out new tatics. From this continuous pressure, Ramgarhia were awarded a short corner and were given another penalty flick after a illegal defensive block was made by kettering player on the goal line, this time Kyle Faulkner stepped up and slotted the ball into the back of the net and the game ended 4-0

05/10/08 - Loughborough Town 1 v 2 Ramgarhia Derby

Ramgarhia Hockey Club made a winning start to their 2008/2009 campaign with a 2-1 win over Loughborough Town with Nin Manku getting Ramgarhia's two goals of the game. The game started well for Ramgarhia with Ramgarhia maintaining the majority of the possession and after a number of good chances at goal we failed to score but hung on after winning a series of short corners. We managed to score with Nin Manku hitting the ball into the back of the net. Shortly after, Loughborough Town equalised after a defensive error off a free hit. The first half ended 1-1 and looked promising for Ramgarhia and could have gone either way.

The second half was dominated by Ramgarhia as they began to look for what could be the winning goal. Although we came close with some clear chances we failed to score and Loughborough were pinned back in their own half as Ramgarhia became more and more fustrated with not scoring. The goal finally came in the last minute of play and after good work from the defense Ramgarhia were allowed to counter and good link play from the midfield gave Nin Manku an opening in the shooting D which he managed to put comfortably and Ramgarhia won the game 2-1

11/10/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 5 v 2 Berkswell BC HC

Goal scorers: Rav Manku x2, Rickey Kalsi, Kamal Chauhan, Nin Manku

Ramgarhia continued winning ways by beating Berkswell 5-2. After an impressive opening quarter of the 1st half, Ramgarhia quickly put their first of the game away after good work from Kamal Chauhan and Oli Cope saw Rav manku easily tap the ball into the back of the net. Ramgarhia's second came shortly after great individual work from Kyle Faulkner running down the right wing and playing the ball across the shooting D where he found Rikey Kalsi who swept the ball into the back of the net. Ramgarhia then scored their third of the game, after a quick free hit was taken by Balraj Johal and was met by a sweeping shot from Rav Manku. Ramgarhia were given more opportunities throughout the first half to add more to their tally but they failed to convert and the first half ended 3-0.

Berkswell starting positively in the second half and managed to apply pressure, and they finally awarded a goal from a penalty corner. Ramgarhia then went on the attack and after a number of good attacks it was Nin Manku who scored a well worked goal as he reverse hit the ball into the back of the net. Berkswell then managed to score a second as miscommunication in defence allowed the Berkswell attacker to tap in a shot that was hit in from outside the D. Ramgarhia then added more pressure and after a number of good attacks we were awarded a penalty flick which was coolly converted by Kamal Chauhan and then were awarded another soon after but this time it was saved by the away team keeper. The game ended 5-2 to Ramgarhia Derby.

18/10/08 - Atherstone Adders 2 v 5 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Rav Manku x4, Harris Mir

Ramgarhia won convincingly against Atherstone Adders in a 5-2 victory. Ramgarhia started very well and Adders were instantly on the back foot. After a number of good attacks by Ramgarhia they were awarded their first goal after good work from Kyle Faulkner running down the right wing and made his way into the shooting D where he found Rav Manku free at the back post who slotted the ball into the back of the net. Ramgarhia then turned up the pace and applied more pressure on adders. This applied pressure allowed Rav Manku to get his second of the game after good work from the midfield they were awarded a free hit outside the shooting D and a good deflection from Nin Manku managed to find Rav who slotted the ball into the back of the net. Adders shortly equalised after they won a penalty corner. With the game at 2-1 Ramgarhia got their third yet again through Rav Manku, after good work from the youngster right winger Navdeep Singh who cleverly made his way into the D, found a pass to Nin who found Rav Manku and hitting the ball into the back of the net. Adders then scored their final goal of the game yet again from another short corner. Before the end of the first half Rav Manku grabbed his fourth and final goal of game with the midfield running the show Kamal Chauhan and Oli Cope made good process down the left hand side and after a good switch to the right they managed to get the ball through again to Kamal Chauhan who played a lovely ball to Rav Manku who was waiting at the back post and made sure he got his fourth. The first half ended 4-2 favour to Ramgarhia.

With Ramgarhia comfortably in the lead we retained most of the possession and reduced Adders to only a handful of shots and with the applied pressure upfront Ramgarhia were gifted yet another well worked goal after Navdeep Singh and Nin Manku combined well to set up a chance for Harris Mir to slot the ball into the net effortlessly to scoring his first goal for Ramgarhia. Ramgarhia could have had another couple of goals but they were cruelly disallowed and the game ended 5-2.

25/10/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 4 v 3 Ashbourne HC

Goal scorers: Kyle Faulkner, Nin Manku x2, Rav Manku

Ramgarhia continued their winning ways at the weekend by beating Ashbourne 4-3 at home. The game started lively but after a few minutes Ashbourne opened up the scoring and Ramgarhia were immediately under pressure. Ashbourne soon made it 2-0 after some terrible defending allowing the front man to get in behind the defence and scoring a simple goal. Ramgarhia then piled on the pressure and were quickly awarded a goal, with good work from Kyle Faulkner managing to wriggle his way into the D and then coolly slotting the ball into the back of the net from a very tight angle. Ashbourne then scored their third and final goal of the game after a Ramgarhia attack broke down and they were allowed to come on the counter and score a relatively easy goal. With the game looking over for Ramgarhia hope was restored on the stroke of half time as Nin Manku scored his 1st of the day after good work from the midfield which gave Nin Manku an opportunity to round the keeper and slot into an open net. The first half ending 3-2.

The second half started better for Ramgarhia with us on the attack early on the game and after a number of good attacks, we failed to score and the pressure was mounting for Ramgarhia, but hope was again restored with 10 minutes left and after a number of failed penalty corners, Nin Manku managed to draw the game level as he converted off a penalty corner as Nin got everything behind his shot which smashed into the back of the net. With only a few minutes remaining and Ramgarhia were desperately looking for the win, which surprisingly came in the dying minutes of the second half with some great work from the midfield which released Kamal Chauhan to break free against a depleted Ashbourne defence and play the ball past the advancing keeper to find Rav Manku who dived and jab the ball into the back of the net which saw Ramgarhia win 4-3.

01/11/08 - Newark HC 4 v 6 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Rav Manku, Raj Manku x2, Nin Manku x3

Ramgarhia emerged winners after a very exciting match against Newark. The game started positively for Ramgarhia with a number of good attacks but after some defensive mistakes Newark scored their first and shortly after doubled their lead through a well worked penalty corner. With ramgarhia looking lost and giving up, they were dealt another blow after Newark scored again and Ramgarhia's day looked miserable, but was saved by the half time whistle.

Ramgarhia came out positive and instantly went on the attack trying to close the gap but were unsuccessful and Newark were allowed to counter and score their 4th goal of the game. With 25 minutes left, the game looked over and Newark were comfortably in the driving seat. Ramgarhia went on an all out attack and with added pressure, Ramgarhia were awarded a free hit and the ball was nicely played to Rav Manku who had all the time in the world to slot it into the back of the net. This merely looked as a consolation but Ramgarhia made it two shortly after with Raj Manku netting a nicely hit penalty corner and then few minutes after doubled his tally with another well executed penalty corner hit. with the game at 4-3 Newark looked concerned and the with only 15 minutes remaining they tried to hold on to the lead but after great work from midfielder Kamal Cauhan the ball was nicely fed through to Nin Manku who scored ramgarhia's equaliser and moments later, Rickey Kalsi making some fantastic tackles and moves played in Nin Manku to score his second of the game, with the game turning on its head with Ramgarhia in the lead and looking even more dangerous. With pressure still piled on Newark, Ramgarhia broke away on a counter this time Kyle Faulkner linking well with the midfield and found Nin Manku free in space who beat 2 defenders and linked well with Rav Manku to set up a open net chance for Nin Manku to get his 3rd and more importantly Ramgarhia’s 6th of the game and bagging all three points. A remarkable achievement for the players involved to come back from 4-0 down not only to equalise but to get all three points.

08/11/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 3 v 2 Nuneaton HC

Goal scorers: Nin Manku, Kyle Faulkner, Rav Manku

Ramgarhia continued winning ways with a 3-2 win against Nuneaton with Rav Manku, Kyle Faulkner and Nin Manku getting the goals. The game started lively with Ramgarhia on the attack and after a number of good attacks we failed to score and had Nuneaton nicely pegged back in their half. With more missed chances Nuneaton were given an opportunity to attack and with a very harsh decision were awarded a short corner and managed to capatalise on their lucky decision. Ramgarhia responded well and with the added pressure piled on Nuneaton thier defence broke down which allowed Nin Manku to get Ramgarhia's first of the game with some very good work from the Oliver Cope to create the chance for Nin. The first half ended 1-1.

The second half started lively and with both teams looking for the next goal the game opened up which allowed Ramgarhia to play their best hockey and were awarded a penalty corner after good work from Navdeep Singh, this time Kyle Faulkner stepped up and drag flicked the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Now Nuneaton looked desperate for an equaliser but it wasnt to be and Ramgarhia got their last of the game after good play from Kamal Chauhan on the left linking well with Nin Manku and Navdeep Singh and the ball was hit across the D to Rav Manku who swept the ball effortlessly into the back of the net. With the game at 3-1 and Ramgarhia looking more and more confident and the most likely team to score they failed to convert their chances and in the final minutes of the game Nuneaton got thier final goal of the game via a penalty corner and the game ended 3-2.

15/11/08 - Corby 3 v 3 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Rav Manku, Nin Manku, Raj, Manku

Ramgarhia drew 3-3 against a hard working Corby side with goals coming from Nin Manku Rav Manku and Raj Manku. The game started very lively with Ramgarhia instantly applying the pressure and forcing Corby into a number of mistakes and after a number of failed attempts at goal Corby were allowed to attack and won a penalty corner, which Corby took their chance and converted their chance and shortly after doubled their lead again from another short corner. With Ramgarhia looking annoyed they pressed on and won a number of short corners including a penalty flick but was saved by the Corby keeper. With the first half coming to an end, some good tackling from Kamal Chauhan and Raj Manku allowed Nin Manku to break on the counter and feed through Rav Manku who slotted the ball into the back of the net, the first half ended 2-1.

Ramgarhia now looking for the equaliser and possibly the winner pressed on Corby but a 10 man defence was hard to break down. Ramgarhia pressing Corby, Corby managed to break on the counter and score their third of the game. With only ten minutes to go Ramarghia cut their losses and decided to go on an all out to attack which luckily paid off with Nin Manku scoring a well worked penalty corner and then Raj Manku scoring the equaliser shortly after from a another penalty corner. In the dying minutes Ramgarhia could have won the game but a controversial decision from the umpires kept the score at 3-3

23/11/08 - Sikh Union Coventry 7 v 1 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorer: Rav Manku

Ramgarhia Derby lost 7-1 to Sikh Union Coventry. Ramgarhia didn’t get going until late in the first half but by then Sikh Union started well and scored two quick goals. Rav Manku restored some glimmer of hope mid way through the first half, re-acting the quickest off a free hit from Balraj Johal. But, Union managed to score again soon after and the first half ended 3-1. The second half was a one way contest as Union where too good on the day as Ramgarhia could not compete with the level of hockey played by Sikh Union. Ramgarhia conceded 5 goals in the half and eventually losing 7-1.

29/11/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 3 v 5 Tamworth HC

Goal scorers: Rav Manku x2, Kyle Faulkner

Ramgarhia lost 5-3 to Tamworth at the weekend. The game started badly for Ramgarhia with them conceeding an early goal after a defensive mix up giving Tamworth an easy chance to convert. Tamworth made it two shortly after with a free hit being deflected into the back of the net. Ramgarhia replied back with Rav Manku receiving the ball from the midfield and scoring a good individual effort. Tamworth managed to score their third of the half from a short corner. Ramgarhia then pressed to find their second goal and with good work from the midfield Balraj Johal found Kamal Chauhan in the shooting circle who fired a shot at the keeper and Rav Manku picked up the rebound to slot home Ramgarhia's second goal and the first half ended 3-2. The second half started lively with Ramgarhia going on the attack and had Tamworth pinned in their half but things went from bad to worse were Tamworth were awarded a short corner which they put away and even though Kyle Faulkner scored a well worked drag flick Tamworth grabbed their fifth within the closing seconds of the game and it ended 5-3.

06/12/08 - Leicester 5 v 4 Ramgarhia Derby

Goal scorers: Kyle Faulkner x2, Rav Manku x2,

Ramgarhia lost against league leaders Leicester in a nine goal thriller. Ramgarhia were determined to prove a point and set about looking very confident and eager to win away from home but this wasn’t the case, after conceding an early goal within the first ten minutes, Ramgarhia pilled on the pressure and controlled most of the possession. With the added pressure Rav Manku equalised after good work from Balraj Johal and Nin Manku to tee up the chance for Rav to slot past the advanced keeper. Leicester regained their lead after a couple of defensive mistakes. Ramgarhia then conceded another goal towards the end of the first half and things were looking not so good for Ramgarhia. The first half came to a close and Ramgarhia were trailing by two goals.

Things got better for Ramgarhia in the second half with Kyle Faulkner scoring, closing the deficit to just one goal, from a well worked penalty corner which he smashed into the bottom corner of the goal. It was deja vu as Kyle Faulkner stepped up to score another penalty corner to get the equaliser for Ramgarhia. With this continued pressure, Rav Manku gave Ramgarhia the lead from another counter attack as Rav managed to sneak the ball past defender and keeper in the only place available in the goal which was the far corner post. with Ramgarhia in the lead for the first time in the game things looked good, but after a couple of decisions going against Ramgarhia, Leicester managed to score two goals from penalty corners and the game ended 5-4.

13/12/08 - Ramgarhia Derby 5 v 2 Daventry HC

Goal scorers: Balraj Johal, Nin Manku, Kamal Chauhan, Raj Manku, Rav Manku

Ramgarhia returned to winning ways with a confident 5v2 victory against Daventry HC. The game started positively with Ramgarhia instantly going on the attack and scored their first of the afternoon through Balraj Johal after good link up play with midfield, to free Navdeep Singh who found Balraj Johal open to slot into the open net after rounding the keeper. Ramgarhia pressed more and were awarded another goal after a well worked penalty corner converted by Nin Manku. Ramgarhia playing the better hockey but this was all to change as Daventry got back into the game with some well taken reverse stick goals and the half ended 2-2.

The second half Ramgarhia looked more attacking and managed to control the game and went looking for some goals. With a tight Daventry defence, this wasn’t to be any time soon. As the half drew to an end and with only 15 minutes left of this half of the season, both teams went looking for the winner, and it was Ramgarhia day as Ramgarhia's defence broke down a Daventry attack and we went in numbers to get a goal through Kamal Chauhan who neatly reverse hit the ball into the back of the net. Soon after, Raj Manku got Ramgarhia's fourth after a well taken penalty corner which struck the corner of the goal. With minutes left, Baljraj Johal set up a chance for Rav Manku after a magnificent individual effort by Balraj Johal who took on four players and rounding the keeper, as he was about to score into the open goal, the keeper brought down the player, but as he was falling, Johal unselfishly managed to pass to Rav Manku who slotted into the open goal.
